'This compilation includes tracks from 'MUSIC FOR TORCHING' (Clef LP: MGC 669) (Tracks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 13, 15 and 17) and 'VELVET MOODS' (Clef LP: MGC 713)(Tracks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14 and 16), as well as two additional tracks: Tracks 12 and 18 from THE COMPLETE BILLIE HOLIDAY ON VERVE 1945-1959 (CD-issue Verve 513859-2).

Recorded at Radio Recorders, Hollywood, California on August 23 (Tracks 1 to 8) & August 25 (Tracks 9 to 17), 1955 and at Shapiro's home in Los Angeles, California on August 22, 1955 (Track 18).
