Czechoslovakia in Song and Dance (Mono, Various)
'Full album title is 'Monitor Presents Czechoslovakia in Song and Dance: Folk Music of Moravia and Bohemia,' a release from Monitor's catalog of Folk and Classical Music. Started in 1956 by Michael Stillman and Rose Rubin in New York City, Monitor specialized in music from the former Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, and around the world. Their catalog of more than 250 folk and classical recordings--including original master tapes, graphics, and business papers--was later acquired by Smithsonian Folkways Recordings.
You can search Smithsonian's available catalog of 'Monitor Presents' recordings here: https://folkways.si.edu/search/?query=monitor+records.
Listed here as the 'Folk Ensemble of Straznice,' Slavek's group was also variously known as the 'Cimbalom Ensemble' and 'Dulcimer Ensemble' of Straznice. Members are unidentified, but later recordings did name individual soloists. Their work was released in Czech, Polish, French, English, etc.; thus there are many spelling variants of the Ensemble's name (sometimes labeled as an 'Orchestra'), as well as variants of Slavek's name.
Discogs also lists a French 7-inch EP release of the A side of this LP: 'Ensemble Folklorique De Straznice*, Slavek Volavy* – Chants Et Danses De Tchécoslovaquie, (Folk Ensemble of Straznice, Slavek Volavy).' The B side was also released as a 7-inch EP in French: 'Ensemble Folklorique De Melnik – Chants Et Danses De Tchécoslovaquie.'
