Edda Vol. 1
'http://www.poetamagica.de: 'The 'Edda' is one of the most famous pieces of poetry and the most important source of mythology from the ancient north. „Music inspired by the Edda“ describes the contemporary Translation of this mighty song collection by POETA MAGICA. The Europe-wide well-known ensemble combined different styles of music to define the term 'medieval-world-music'.
The unique compilation of musical inspiration and instrumental virtuosity by Poeta Magica brings life into the gods, heroes and myths with the CD 'EDDA Vol. 1'. The most ancient ballads of Scandinavia, folk melodies and our very own compositions sound so various as the nordic landscape: traditional with scandinavian Instruments, classical with an orchestra, modern with Jazz and New Age influences. Recitations from the Edda open new perspectives to the northern world of gods in traditional icelandic language and song texts in norwegian, swedish, finnish and englisch language.
In musical terms Poeta Magica goes new ways and still stays with their very own style. Their main instrument is the Nyckelharpa: on this CD you can listen to a whole Nyckelharpa-Orchestra and also the biggest Nyckelharpa ever built, the 'Großbas'-Harpa which was developed by Holger Funke. This Harpa also uses a quart-tone array. Renowned guest musicians from Scandinavia like Tone Hulbaekmo (Kalenda maya) from Norway participated with this project.'
