Guem was born in Batna (Algeria) March 9, 1947 to a Nigerian family. He played traditional ''Trance music'' from an early age, and has released some 20 albums since the 1973 'Percussions Africaines'.

This is Guem's first album release. The Ethnomusicological col lection presents some magical percussive rhythms and narration, from the extraordinary multi-instrumentalist Guem. Released by the wonderful French purveyors of world music, Le Chant Du Monde label.
