Floyd Cramer

Floyd Cramer was an American pianist and member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. He was born on October 27, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and grew up in the nearby town of Huttig, Arkansas.

Cramer began playing the piano at a young age and went on to study music at the Louisiana State University. He played in various bands throughout his early career before moving to Nashville in the 1950s to work as a session musician.

Cramer's signature "slip note" piano style, which involved sliding from one note to another, became a defining characteristic of many of the recordings he played on. He became one of the most sought-after session musicians in Nashville, playing on recordings for artists such as Patsy Cline, Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and the Everly Brothers.
