Flamenco
'Rear Sleeve notes:
'In the Andalusian land of Cadiz, cradle of singers and bullfighters, Rafael Rodriguez was born from pure gypsy parents where Flamenco was part of their nomadic life. His father was a well known Flamenco singer whose personal style and interpretation of Malaguenas and Granadinas was renowned throughout southern Spain. It was in this atmosphere of the wandering gypsy life that Raphael grew up. At an early age he mixed with such famous virtuosi as Chato Mendez, Junaito Maravillas and Junaito Varea. It is no wonder that Rafael Rodriguez was influenced by the varying styles of these masters to which he added his natural talent to emerge as the great singer he is today. In each one of his interpretations the vibrant spirit flowing through his gypsy blood can be felt. Rafael portrays on this record the many aspects of Flamenco, varying from tragedies and sorrow to happiness and joy with the Solereas and Peteneras and the happy Verdiales. This LP will bring back memories of sunny spain along with the fiery sound of Flamenco.'
