The Police

If four out of five albums become chart-toppers, then performers can't have done everything wrong. When Sting, Andy Summers, and exceptional drummer Stewart Copeland came together in 1977 to form The Police, none of them would have bet a penny that they could be so successful as policemen. After difficult beginnings and first successes on the other side of the world, Australia, everything went very quickly. Artistic and personal differences led to a break in the mid-1980s. The reunion and planned comeback in the so-called "noughties" did not live up to what the musicians had hoped for. The last performance of The Police took place on August 7, 2008.
