Eurythmics

Formed by Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart after their post-punk band The Tourists dissolved, Eurythmics evolved from synth minimalism to R&B-inflected pop. Their breakthrough came with the MTV-driven success of Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), recorded in a home studio after their debut flopped. Early sessions featured members of Can and drummer Clem Burke. They later duetted with Aretha Franklin and worked with Al Green, while Stewart produced artists including Bob Dylan.
