Sylvester

Sylvester was an American disco and soul singer and performer who was active in the 1970s and 1980s. Born Sylvester James in 1947 in Watts, California, he was known for his powerful and distinctive voice, flamboyant stage presence, and energetic live performances. He was one of the pioneers of the disco movement and had several hit songs, including "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)," "Dance (Disco Heat)," and "Can't Stop Dancing." Sylvester was also known for his advocacy for the LGBTQ community and was an early openly gay performer in the music industry. He was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and is considered one of the greatest disco singers of all time. Sylvester died of AIDS-related complications in 1988, but his music continues to be popular and has influenced many later artists in the dance and soul genres.
