Stephen Stills

Stephen Stills, born on January 3, 1945, in Dallas, Texas, is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose work has made a significant impact in the rock music scene. He's best known for his tenure with the folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield and the supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash (and sometimes Young).

An interesting story from Stills' career happened during his time with Buffalo Springfield. It was the band's performance at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 that triggered the formation of Crosby, Stills & Nash. David Crosby and Graham Nash were both in the audience, and they were so impressed with Stills' performance that they later sought him out to form a new group.
