Siouxsie & the Banshees

Siouxsie and the Banshees emerged from London’s punk scene and the Sex Pistols associated Bromley Contingent. Their 1976 debut at the 100 Club Punk Festival consisted solely of a 20-minute improvisation of “The Lords Prayer”; the first drummer was Sid Vicious, who soon left for the Sex Pistols. Vocalist Siouxsie Sioux (Susan Dallion) and bassist Steven Severin remained the group’s core through many lineup changes. Former the Slits drummer Budgie joined in 1979 and stayed until the end. Guitarist Robert Smith of the Cure briefly toured and recorded with the band. Side projects included the Creatures (Siouxsie and Budgie) and the Glove (Severin and Smith).
