Dr. Hook

Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show was a rock and roll band that was active in the 1970s. The band was known for their humorous lyrics and catchy melodies, and they had several hit songs including "Cover of the Rolling Stone," "Sylvia's Mother," and "The Ballad of Lucy Jordan." The band was formed in Union City, New Jersey in 1969, and they originally went by the name "Dr. Hook." The group was fronted by singer and songwriter Dennis Locorriere, and they also featured guitarist George Cummings, drummer John "Jay" David, and keyboardist Billy Francis. In addition to their hit songs, the band was also known for their energetic live performances and their over-the-top stage outfits, which included leather jumpsuits and cowboy hats. Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show disbanded in 1985, but they have continued to have a dedicated fan base and have occasionally performed reunion shows in the years since.
