Swiss duo Yello paired composer Boris Blank’s sample-driven electronics with the baritone theatrics of Dieter Meier, a millionaire industrialist, professional gambler, and former Swiss national golf team member. Their debut, Solid Pleasure, yielded the club hit “Bostitch.” Meier-directed visuals became central to their work; “Pinball Cha Cha” was later featured in a Museum of Modern Art music video exhibition. The track “Oh Yeah” from Stella became an unlikely U.S. hit after prominent placement in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. They later collaborated with Shirley Bassey on One Second.
