'All tracks sourced/mastered from the original 78rpm shellac records by (a=Robert Parker (3)). The booklet describes Parker's way of working as a new technique that revitalises the sound of 78rpm discs into a 'clean stereo impression of how the giants of jazz would have sounded in live performance'. When listening to the actual tracks, however, it is immediately clear the 'stereo impression' is the same as electronically re-channelled stereo or electronically enhanced stereo, which means that the left and right channels have been EQ'ed differently.

Many of the digital transfers made by (a=Robert Parker (3)) formed the basis for his Award Winning BBC Radio 2 series 'Jazz Classics in Stereo'.

Although not credited as such, tracks 3 and 4 by (a=Bessie Smith) follow the original side 1 and side 2 order of the 'Empty Bed Blues' ( First Part / Conclusion and has been submitted accordingly.'[discogs]
