The Shadows

The Shadows are a British instrumental rock band that were formed in 1958. The original lineup consisted of Hank Marvin (lead guitar), Bruce Welch (rhythm guitar), Jet Harris (bass guitar), and Tony Meehan (drums). The band was originally the backing band for singer Cliff Richard, but they also had success as an instrumental band in their own right.

The Shadows are known for their distinctive guitar sound, which is characterized by the use of the Fender Stratocaster guitar, the use of tremolo and echo effects, and the use of complex melodic lines played by Marvin and Welch.

Harris and Meehan left the band in the early 1960s and were replaced by Brian Locking and Brian Bennett, respectively. The Shadows continued to have success into the 1970s, and the lineup continued to change over the years.
