Sonny James

Sonny James was an American country music singer and songwriter, born in Alabama in 1928. He rose to fame in the 1950s with his smooth, crooning style and had a string of hits that lasted over two decades. James' most famous song, "Young Love", was a huge crossover hit, reaching No. 1 on both the country and pop charts in the United States and becoming one of the biggest hits of the 20th century. He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2006. James was known for his clean-cut image and wholesome stage presence, and had a devoted following throughout his career. He died in 2016 at the age of 87.
