Ohio Players

The Ohio Players were an American funk and R&B band formed in Dayton, Ohio in 1959. The band's classic lineup consisted of Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner (guitar, vocals), Marshall "Rock" Jones (bass), Clarence "Satch" Satchell (saxophone), James "Diamond" Williams (drums), Ralph Middlebrooks (trumpet), and Marvin Pierce (keyboards). The Ohio Players were known for their energetic and danceable funk sound, and they had several hit songs throughout the 1970s, including "Fire," "Love Rollercoaster," and "Funky Worm." They also released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Honey" and "Skin Tight." The Ohio Players were influential in the development of funk music and have been cited as an influence by many later funk and R&B artists. They continue to tour and perform to this day and are considered one of the great funk bands of all time.
