Lipps Inc.

Minneapolis is one of the most important places at all for Afroamerican pop music. Pop historians know the city as the home and workplace of stars such as Prince, Alexander O'Neal, and other R&B legends. The disco formation Lipps Inc. Around lead singer Cynthia Johnson, who also previously performed on stage as the lead singer of Times, are among the most important funk pioneers from the city. The group later gained a legendary status with their 1980 world hit "Funkytown", a true disco classic. They disappeared as fast as they had appeared, but nevertheless Lipps Inc. have secured their spot in disco’s history books.
