Don Gibson

Don Gibson was an American country music singer, songwriter, and guitarist born on April 3, 1928, in Shelby, North Carolina. He is best known for his songwriting, including the hits "I Can't Stop Loving You" and "Oh Lonesome Me". He was one of the most successful songwriters in the country music genre during the 1950s and 1960s, and his songs have been covered by numerous artists in various genres.

Gibson began his music career in the 1950s as a songwriter, writing for other artists and performing on radio stations. In 1957, he signed with RCA Victor and released his debut single "Sweet Dreams", which became a hit. He continued to have success as a performer and songwriter, releasing numerous hit songs throughout the 1950s and 1960s. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.

Gibson's style was characterized by his smooth baritone voice and introspective lyrics, and he was known for his blending of traditional country and pop styles. He was also a talented guitarist and was influential in the development of the Nashville Sound, a genre of country music that emphasized polished production and arrangements. He died on November 17, 2003, at the age of 75.
